Job Title: Shop Manager 
Reports To: Cruise Hotel Manager/ Chief Retail Manager
Position Grade:  2 Stripes
Department: The Gift Shop (Retail Sales) Department
Manger's Title: Cruise Hotel Manager
Monthly Salary Range: USD$1,500~2,000  + commission
(Accurate Salary will be noted once the candidate officially hired)
Job Overview:
In charge of the general management and the commercial activities of the Duty Free shops, and accountable for the retail standards within the area to maximize profitable sales and manage local relationships.
Responsibilities and Duties include (but are not limited to)
  • Be Responsible for managing the shops aboard a cruise ship, consistent with the short and long term interests of the company, its employees and its customer and ensuring the highest level of customer service possible
  • Analyzes the KPI’s if any issue in the shop might be affecting the daily sales, and takes corrective actions if needed
  • Organizes and leads the Daily Meeting with the team, including all the relevant events of the week (sales, promotions, categories, brands, HR, etc.)
  • Reviews Sales targets by shop, category and brand, compared to the previous week, month, year and budget
  • Leads the full cruise line retail team
  • Controls the cost and takes actions if needed
  • Cultivates an excellent relationship with the on board Cruise line management
  • Ensures that there is a positive and good work ethos in all shops
  • Oversees and evaluates the welfare of the staff during both professional and personal time, while on board and off board.
  • Identifies and implement necessary trainings within the shops
  • Be responsible for matching of staffing to the customer flow (Shift Planning) and reviews staff performance and track FTE by department
  • Executes performance evaluations and goal assessments
  • Be responsible for compliance and procedures of Maritime Labor Convention 2006.
  • Leads the Training duties of Duty Free Programs
  • Identifies Talent within the Team
  • Be responsible for achieving sales and margin targets
  • Do inventory control, fully accountable for shrinkage
  • Be responsible for accurate reporting of each voyage sales performance
  • Promotes the Duty Free Shop as a brand aboard the cruise ship
  • Ensures that a high standard of customer service is implemented
  • Ensures full customer service satisfaction for both the Duty Free Shop and Cruise line management standards.
  • Experience:Duty free/retail experience with at least 2 years at management level
  • Education level
    • High school diploma or foreign equivalent is required.
    • Associates degree or foreign equivalent is preferred.
    • Degree or Diploma in Hospitality Management is an asset.
  • Specific skills & Knowledge:Knowledge of the Retail or Consumer goods industry
  • Language
    • Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly and cordially with guests
    • Ability to communicate in English to understand, interpret written procedures, give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from guests, supervisors and co-workers
    • Excellent verbal and written command of the English language
    • Ability to speak additional languages such as Chinese, Spanish, French, German, Italian or Portuguese preferred.
    •  Must be about to speak English plus at least one of the following languages to a conversational/business level (Chinese, French, German, Spanish, Italian or Portuguese)

    • Must meet all physical requirements, including the ability to participate in emergency life-saving drills and required training.
    • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
