Monthly Salary Range: USD$1,800~2,200  + commission

Job Overview:
Disc Jockey, you will be responsible for operating music, video and lighting equipment to produce a mixture of dance music such as, but not limited to, Top 40, disco, new wave, dance-oriented rock, Latin, R&B, reggae and classic rock. You will be working with a world-class staff.
Responsibilities and Duties include (but are not limited to)
  • Maintain up-to-date musical inventory with the support of shore-side management.
  • Assure that equipment is maintained in safe and clean working environment. 
  • Alert the Activity Manager of any necessary repairs so that an AVO may be placed for repair.
  • Record some evenings’ sessions per voyage on the hard drive and submit this shore-side via disc.
  • Continually interact with guests; coordinates, hosts, and participates in other adult recreational activities related to his or her position.
  • Socialize with guests at all times when in the public areas. 
  • Visit lounges at various times and converses with as many guests as possible as time allows.
  • Assist in the coordination and operation of audio and/or visual equipment for events as needed in support of the Sound & Light Staff as determined by the Cruise Director.
  • Responsible for cost containment through the proper use, handling and maintenance of records, reports, supplies and equipment.
  • Maintain his/her own stock of music on CD format to compliment the onboard collection of music
  • Experience
    • Experience in an upscale hotel, resort, cruise line or entertainment/recreational industry (shipboard experience preferred).
    • Experience with microphone technique in front of large groups preferred
  • Education level
    • High school diploma or foreign equivalent preferred.
    • Associates degree or foreign equivalent preferred.
    • Background in electrical, technical, light and sound preferred.
    • Degree or Diploma in Technical Theater, Sound, Lights, A/V is an asset.
  • Specific skills & Knowledge
    • Familiarity of stage productions.
    • Ability to operate a variety of music playing equipment and lighting equipment.
    • Extensive knowledge of a variety of dance music such as, but not limited to, past and present pop music, dance, Latin, 70s disco, reggae, R&B, hip hop, country and classic rock
    • Capability of enjoying a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
    • Capability of working closely with other team members in a multicultural environment
    • Capability of being personable and maintain a professional demeanor and appearance
  • Language
    • Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly and cordially with guests
    • Ability to communicate in English to understand, interpret written procedures, give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from guests, supervisors and co-workers
    • Excellent verbal and written command of the English language
    • Ability to speak additional languages such as Chinese, Spanish, French, German, Italian or Portuguese preferred.
    •  Must be about to speak English plus at least one of the following languages to a conversational/business level (Chinese, French, German, Spanish, Italian or Portuguese)

    • Must meet all physical requirements, including the ability to participate in emergency life-saving drills and required training.
